WHAT IS CONTAINER DUMURRAGE?
This is charged by the shipping line when there is extended use of their container. At import, the receiver has a number of days to collect the import, empty, and return the container to the shipping company. If the free days are exceeded the meter starts ticking.
Demurrage charges accrue really quickly and can be extremely expensive. We know of instances where demurrage is measured in thousands of €'s and often it is many hundreds!
THE TITAN 1-WAY RENTAL ALTERNATIVE
Rent containers where you need to load and ship as usual, move from port storage, and empty when it suits you. Return the empty containers in a clean condition to TITAN.
WHAT DOES TITAN 1-WAY RENTAL COST?
We need to know the where from and the where to as fees are based upon the beneficial or detrimental impact of the move.
IF MORE THAN 100 DAYS
If you keep the container for more than the agreed period then rental is charged daily for extra days after the free period, Daily rates are typically between €1 and €3.50 per day. Much less than shipping line demurrage!

- There is the possible hidden advantage of reducing the transport costs as TITAN will happily accept at inland locations where shipping lines may demand empty return to main ports.

WHAT IS CSC AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
All shipping containers carry a CSC Container Safety Convention data plate. All the data showing is essential to the many stakeholders in the international shipping and logistics industry. All containers being used for loaded transport should have a valid CSC data plate.
ACEP AND PES
TITAN operates Automatic Container Examination Programme where containers are inspected every time we see them in a depot. TITAN also updates under the Periodic Examination Scheme where maximum validity is 30 months after the containers are 5 years old.
- If you are shipping certain hazardous cargoes and especially IMCO class 1 explosives there can be additional requirements including containers without any repairs.
- If you are shipping to Australia and some other countries cleanliness of biological debris inside and beneath the floor might be a requirement.
